We look forward to seeing you soon and introducing you to all that Burlington House School has to offer.

Applying to Burlington House School

1.  The best and easiest way to get started is to speak to Christina, our Registrar, who can answer all of your questions about Burlington House School.

2. If you would like to apply for a place for your child, we’ll need copies of any relevant professional paperwork. This may include:

  • Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Educational Psychology (EP) report from the last two years
  • School Report

We’ll review these documents and, if we feel that Burlington House School is the right fit, we’ll arrange for you to meet our relevant Head of School and Registrar for a school tour.

3. Next, we will invite your child to join a class and work alongside their peers. We call these ‘Acquaint Days’ and it helps us to assess their performance and potential, and what support they might need from us.

We will also spend some time with your child in a 1:1 setting to gently assess their speech, language, numeracy and literacy.

4. At this point, we’ll have everything we need to decide whether Burlington House School can meet your child’s needs. If so, we will send you an offer for a place, which you can decline or accept as an independent payer or via your Local Authority.

5. Email admissions@burlingtonhouseschool.com to progress your application.

Frequently asked questions:

Is Burlington House School appropriate for my child’s needs?

We offer specialist education for pupils with specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). This includes dyslexia and dyscalculia, and also encompasses those children who require a smaller, more nurturing environment than found in mainstream education. Pupils with more wide-ranging needs may be better suited to one of our sister schools within the Cavendish Education Group.

How are admissions assessed?

Primarily on whether Burlington House School is the best place for your child to develop and reach their potential. Every school and child is different and we try prioritise admission for the pupils who will benefit most from our specialisms and facilities.

We have a maximum number of pupils and therefore our admissions work on a first come, first served basis. The earlier you apply, the better chance you have of securing a place.

Can I attend an Open Day or Open Evening?

Yes, we hold them twice during every term and we would love to show you around. In fact it’s our current pupils who will give you a tour, in small groups, where you can see teaching and learning in action. You will be able to meet the Principal, members of the Senior Leadership team, and Registrar after the tour.

To book on to these tours please visit the link in our ‘Open Days’ tab.

Can my child be placed in a different age group to their own?

Yes, if we believe that there is a benefit to them for doing so. The reasons for making this decision are based on educational or social needs.

How much does the application/registration cost?

After review of your child’s paperwork and once your child has been invited to join us for Acquaint days, a registration form will be sent to you by the Registrar. You are then asked to complete and return the Registration Form and pay a registration fee of £195. This form and the account details will be sent to you by email and cannot be found on the website.

To apply for a place, please email the school registrar on admissions@burlingtonhouseschool.com

Can I appeal application decisions?

Our Admissions Panel considers every decision deeply. Made up of our Principal, Deputy Head, Registrar, and therapy team – all who will have read your child’s supporting reports – making these decisions takes time. Once they are made, they are deemed final, in order that we can dedicate our time to the remaining applications and then to the accepted pupils’ needs. You are welcome to enquire again in 9-12 months time.
